Mandatory requirement. The policy may be presented on paper or electronically, in Georgian or English.

When you need a policy

Before crossing the border

The policy must be issued by the time you enter Georgia.

At border control

An officer of the Ministry of Internal Affairs may check that you have a valid policy.

For the entire trip

Insurance is valid from entry until departure, for no longer than 1 year.

Minimum amount

The insured amount must be at least 30,000 GEL.

Why this matters

Legal requirement

Without a policy, a traveller does not meet the mandatory entry requirements.

Protection from expenses

The policy helps pay for emergency assistance in the event of a sudden illness or accident.

Convenient format

An electronic policy in English or Georgian is sufficient.

For trips of up to one year

The policy is issued for your entire planned stay.
